e-Transport - Maritime transport
In this practical e-learning module, we build on the concept of a shipment's life cycle, focusing specifically on freight transport by water. You will gain a thorough understanding of intercontinental ocean freight (Deep Sea Shipping), coastal shipping (Short Sea Shipping) and inland waterway transport (Inland Shipping). The emphasis is on maritime container transport, exploring the entire logistics chain: from pre- and on-carriage, customs formalities and choosing the right Incoterms to booking cargo, port capacity and the precise flow of documents (Bills of Lading, Mate's Receipts and manifests). We also examine the specific roles and responsibilities of all parties involved, including freight forwarders, shipping lines, ship agents, stevedores and port cargo-handling companies, as well as the applicable legislation, liability and rate structures.
-
e-Transport - Air transport
The Air Transport module provides a thorough, practical overview of air freight. Participants explore its main advantages and disadvantages through SWOT analysis, the different air-freight markets, the role of international organisations such as IATA, and regulations including the Montreal Convention. The course covers the complete shipment life cycle, the tasks of the intermediaries involved, such as shippers, air-freight agents, first- and second-line handlers and integrators, and logistics processes around Belgian airports such as Brucargo. It also examines the functions of the Air Waybill (AWB, HAWB and MAWB), complex IATA rate structures and surcharges, suitable packaging and Unit Load Devices (ULDs), and stricter security requirements such as Airport Security, Known Consignor and Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status.
-
e-Transport - Rail transport
The Rail Transport module provides a thorough, practical understanding of the operation, organisation and strategic benefits of rail freight. Participants explore the Belgian and European rail network, the parties involved and the market structure since liberalisation. The module also covers the complete life cycle of a rail shipment, from wagon selection, booking and the legal framework (COTIF/CIM) to load securing, transshipment techniques and delivery. Finally, it examines European rail corridors, intermodal hubs and the technical and economic challenges facing the sector.
-
e-Transport - Green Road Transport
This learning module provides a thorough, up-to-date overview of making road transport more sustainable and integrating green logistics throughout the supply chain. The course covers strategic and operational measures for a greener fleet, from route optimisation, load factors and modal shift to practical vehicle technologies, current Euro standards, Low Emission Zones (LEZ) and eco-driving. A separate, essential chapter explores the impact of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) on transport and logistics, analysing sustainability performance and reporting obligations at four operational and strategic levels: internal, local, regional and global. Participants learn how environmental investments can support regulatory compliance, strengthen competitive advantage and reduce costs.
-
e-Transport - Specialised forms of road transport
The Specialised Forms of Road Transport module provides a thorough, practical overview of the main specialised transport areas within logistics. Participants explore the essential legislation, operating requirements and specific equipment involved in transporting dangerous goods (ADR), temperature-controlled goods (ATP), abnormal loads, waste and live animals. The module also addresses current challenges in urban distribution, last-mile logistics and e-commerce deliveries. It provides an ideal foundation for current and future transport planners and logistics staff to recognise and efficiently plan for the risks, required documentation and special requirements associated with these forms of transport.
-
e-Transport - Transport files, TMS & Trip planning
The Transport Files & TMS module explores the complete life cycle of a transport assignment, from transport agreements and file preparation to the operational functions of Transport Management Systems, including file management, fleet management and post-transaction administration, and the use of network-planning tools such as Gantt charts. The Trip Planning module focuses on effective use of public and private infrastructure, analysing shipment volumes through drop-size analysis, and applying planning techniques to one-to-one, one-to-many and many-to-many transport problems using manual methods, automatic route planners and digital planning boards.
-
e-Transport - Road transport costing & transport procurement
The Road Transport Costing module provides a thorough understanding of the complete cost structure of road transport. Participants learn how vehicle costs are built from fixed time-related costs, such as depreciation, insurance and driver allowances, and variable distance-related costs, such as fuel, tyre wear and tolls. Practical methods cover accurate calculation of chargeable distances, operating times and volumetric charging measures such as loading metres, and how to use them in concrete quotation approaches. The Transport Procurement module explores strategic and tactical outsourcing decisions. Participants examine the development of logistics services from 1PL to 4PL, the make-or-buy decision and preparation of a robust procurement plan. The entire tendering process is covered, from thorough internal and external analysis and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to KPI-based management and objective supplier evaluation.
-
e-Transport - Loading/unloading techniques & load securing (road transport)
This practical course provides a thorough grounding in the technical, operational and legal aspects of road freight transport. You will learn to organise transport safely and efficiently, from using advanced loading and unloading equipment to packing, stowing and securing goods correctly. You will also gain a clear understanding of the relevant legislation, liability and preventive action plans to avoid damage, fines and accidents.
-
e-Transport - Driving & rest periods in road transport
This e-learning module provides an up-to-date overview of legislation on driving and rest periods, including Regulation (EC) No 561/2006, AETR and the Mobility Package. You will learn about its scope, exceptions and the obligations of transport operators and drivers. The module also covers practical use of the smart tachograph and other tachograph types, the four basic symbols, ferry and rail transport rules, retention periods and inspection procedures.
-
e-Transport - Road transport documents & permits + CMR & TIR conventions
The Road Transport Documents and Permits module covers all mandatory driver and on-board documents, transport licences, cargo documents and certificates for road transport. The CMR & TIR Conventions module focuses on international road-transport conventions, the liability of the parties involved and the use of the paper and electronic CMR consignment note. It also explains how the TIR carnet and customs seals work, and the transition to e-TIR for cross-border transit transport.
-
e-Transport - Vehicle types & legal aspects (road transport)
The Types of Road Transport Vehicles module provides a thorough overview of vehicle types, configurations and their specific uses in professional freight transport. Participants learn to distinguish between rigid trucks, towed equipment and complex combinations such as longer and heavier vehicles (LZVs/Ecocombis). The Legal Aspects of Road Transport module focuses on the regulatory framework essential to safe, compliant transport operations. It covers statutory maximum dimensions and masses (MTM), axle-load and load-distribution standards, preparing correct load plans using the LIFO principle, and preventing overloading and the associated penalties.
