Basic Training using a TMS system (dispatch/transport planner)

A Transport Management System (TMS) is the beating heart of every modern logistics service provider.
This training teaches participants step by step how to efficiently use and configure a TMS to plan, monitor, and optimize transport operations.
Through practical exercises and realistic case studies, you will discover how digital tools simplify daily transport activities.

Content

This training provides a clear understanding of how a TMS system works.
The following topics are covered:
• Transport processes
• Types of master data and their role
• The transport file, starting with a transport order
• The planning board
• Communication: customer and drivers (on-board computer)
• After a concise theoretical explanation, participants can enter data themselves, plan transport, send orders to the on-board computer, and complete a full transport operation.

Organization

Transport planning is a highly complex activity.
In most companies, this is supported by a Transport Management System (TMS), which is the key tool covering the entire chain of transport activities.
In this course, participants work with a real-life TMS environment, allowing them to operate as if they were part of an actual company.
As a result, after this short but intensive immersion, you will have a clear understanding of the possibilities, limitations, and requirements of such a system.
Another advantage is that this knowledge remains relevant, even when working with other TMS platforms in the future, since the building blocks are largely the same.

This training consists of a unique mix of interactive workshops and e-learning.
The 5 workshops are organized as follows:
• 2 full-day (9:00–16:00) on-site workshops using a live TMS system
• 3 half-day (9:00–13:00) online workshops

Between the workshops, you will have time to study detailed learning modules and complete assignments through digital e-learning.
Participants receive access to an online learning platform that includes in-depth theory, practical examples, and exercises.
On request, all sessions can also be held fully on-site.
