e-Transport - Incoterms 2020 & transport insurance

🎯 Learning objectives
After independently completing this e-learning module, you will be able to:
- Apply Incoterms 2020 correctly: Interpret the 11 Incoterms and their obligations accurately, record them correctly in sales contracts and select the most appropriate term for logistics practice, such as choosing FCA over EXW for road transport.
- Determine the transfer points for risk and costs: Identify exactly where the risk of loss or damage passes from seller to buyer across different transport modes and intermodal journeys.
- Analyse carrier liability versus insurance cover: Identify the financial gap between carriers' statutory liability limits (SDR/kg) and the actual value of the goods to determine the necessary level of insurance.
- Select the right transport insurance: Distinguish between policy types, such as open-cover and single-shipment policies, and align the different levels of cover under Institute Cargo Clauses A, B and C with the chosen Incoterm, such as CIP versus CIF.
- Handle a claim correctly: Independently take the necessary steps following transport damage, including giving timely notice of a claim within strict statutory deadlines and compiling a legally and financially complete claim file.
